Pickering City Centre is a 55-acre master planned, mixed-use community by developer CentreCourt that will convert a suburban mall just east of Toronto into a vibrant urban core and transit centre featuring more than 10 towers that will rise 40 to 55 storeys. As urban designer and landscape architect, STUDIO tla is playing a significant leadership role in Phase 1 of the planned development, which includes approximately 2,200 residential units and over 111,000 m2 of residential and commercial density.
Our team is leading the design of outdoor spaces with the larger consulting team to ensure all contributions to the overall design from each discipline integrates with design guidelines established by the City of Pickering. This effort is helping to keep the project schedule on track by engaging the design team to identify, plan and execute design details required by the City. This meticulous attention to design details helps mitigate the volume of comments provided by the City during the review process, expediting the development of design.
Design features of the at grade and podium level amenity spaces involve over 7,200m² of outdoor amenities ranging from a rooftop infinity pool and lounge, rooftop dining spaces and BBQs, outdoor co-working spaces, children's playground, multiple communal green spaces, and streetscapes that integrate with ground floor retail.
