The Dupont is a 9-story, mid-rise condominium currently under construction in Toronto, ON. Once completed, the condo will feature 282,281 sq. ft. of living spaces with 16,000+ sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor amenities.
In our role as landscape architect on this project, STUDIO tla has designed a reimagined streetscape and a new public park that will significantly enhance the public realm along Dupont and Shaw streets. We are working collaboratively with our client, Tridel, the City of Toronto and surrounding community to design a streetscape and publicly accessible park that further activates the cultural and social vibrancy of the neighbourhood.
Our scope of work also involves the design of a rooftop terrace featuring a pool, trees, gardens and expansive views of the Toronto skyline. The design provides residents with a variety of opportunities through the creation of a series of outdoor rooms. These rooms include BBQs, a fireplace lounge, group dining, social and workspaces. Located at the centre of the U-shaped tower portion of the building, the rooftop terrace was carefully designed to provide structures that increase the sense of privacy from the wall of windows that surround the amenity space. In addition, these shade structures—designed in concert with bespoke paving selections—formally define each room.
Finally, a green belt of perennials and grasses surround the amenity area. This green backdrop sets the space apart both from private terraces that share the floor and from the traffic below, all while maintaining views of the skyline beyond.
