Next week, Yvonne Battista, Principal, STUDIO tla, will appear as a guest lecturer as part of a series hosted by the University of Guelph featuring a line-up of internationally renowned landscape architects.
Yvonne’s in-person lecture—entitled Impactful Landscapes—will address how landscape architects approach design and respond to the place and people to create impactful landscapes. The ideas and insights Yvonne will explore are informed by her 20 years of experience on projects ranging from waterfronts, urban streetscapes, campuses, parks and innovative stormwater management systems, as well as her passion for creating resilient, livable and well-integrated communities that approach design from a holistic perspective.
Other speakers in the W23 Landscape Architecture Guest Lecture Series include James Dobbin, the Principal of Dobbin International and a pioneer and established global leader in strategic spatial development planning of land, coast, and ocean environments; Isabel Castilla, a Principal at James Corner Field Operations based in New York City; and Adriaan Geuze, The Principal and Founder of West 8 in The Netherlands.
The guest lecture series is being hosted by the University of Guelph’s School of Environmental Design and Rural Development (SEDRD), a program that brings together major academic fields—Capacity Development and Extension, Landscape Architecture, Rural Planning and Development, and Rural Studies–that are concerned with creating strong communities, in Canada and around the world.
