Prosserman Jewish Community Centre & Sherman Campus Celebrated by Ontario Association of Architects’ Special Program

Sherman Campus

Each year, the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) celebrates World Architecture Day in 2023 with its Queen’s Park Picks program—a collaboration with Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) in which built environments are selected for exhibition in an online gallery.

This year, the Prosserman Jewish Community Centre and Sherman Campus are featured in the gallery and accompanying article as “spaces for fun, culture, and enjoyment within a spectacular natural setting”.

STUDIO tla designed the outdoor program of the campus, which features includes an aquatic centre with an outdoor salt-water pool and children’s splash pad; an extensive outdoor children’s play facility; playing fields and pavilions; a bike and pedestrian trail with fitness stations; gardens; orchards; and an outdoor amphitheatre, for our client the Jewish Federation of Toronto.

According to the OAA, the theme for this year’s gallery–which was selected by the International Union of Architects (UIA) Council–is "Architecture for Resilient Communities”. As a result, several of the buildings and their surrounding spaces “incorporate elements of enduring durability, climate action, and adaptability as principles”.
